Earlier news on the Vinh Nguyen case: Judge Eileen Moore Sept. 5,
1995 and again Sept. 15, 1995, turned down a defense motion to dismiss a murder conspiracy count, even
though the jury had voted for acquittal 11-1. Defense attorney Jon
Alexander argued a retrial would be an "egregious waste" of county time and money. Nguyen, a student at Cal State Fullerton who called the show a few weeks ago to
announce his acquittal of attempted murder charges, now faces a
new trial on the conspiracy count.
