Subversity is a progressive public affairs program broadcasting currently every Tuesday evening from 5-6 pm on KUCI, 88.9 fm. KUCI is the campus station at the University of California, Irvine. Subversity host Dan Tsang interviews newsmakers within and beyond the Orange Curtain, folks who shake things up and transgress multiple boundaries! A. Magazine featured the show in a piece on "Radio Activism," and newspapers such as the Los Angeles Times, Orange County Register, and the Chinese-language Chinese Daily News and International Daily News have all covered the broadcasts. Subversity broke the story of the founding of gay support groups at two local Orange County high schools. It also pioneered stories on Asians in prisons, airing interviews with inmates from Orange County jail. The show's host was also subpoenaed at a gaybashing civil trial. News Coverage:

  • Earlier news on the Vinh Nguyen case: Judge Eileen Moore Sept. 5, 1995 and again Sept. 15, 1995, turned down a defense motion to dismiss a murder conspiracy count, even though the jury had voted for acquittal 11-1. Defense attorney Jon Alexander argued a retrial would be an "egregious waste" of county time and money. Nguyen, a student at Cal State Fullerton who called the show a few weeks ago to announce his acquittal of attempted murder charges, now faces a new trial on the conspiracy count.
