Alliance Working for
Asian Rights and Empowerment

The Alliance Working for Asian Rights and Empowerment (AWARE) was formed in September, 1993 as a grassroots, community support and advocacy group for Asians and Pacific Islanders in Orange County to fight police harrassment. Members include those from UCI and other communities in Orange County, Calif., but we welcome everyone who is committed to the civil rights struggle.

What You Can Do:

Join AWARE and Work Together To Stop Police Abuse. We want to hear from you! We are collecting incident reports of police harrassment. If you believe you were unfairly stopped and questioned or photographed by police, let us know! Let us know the date, time, place (cross streets and city), and for each police officer, his or her name and badge number. You can report all incidents to AWARE. Also, let us know if you need some Know Your Rights cards. Write to AWARE, PO Box 28977, Santa Ana CA 92799-8977. Or send email to: awaredt@hotmail.com.
